Town River Stewards Committee

Meeting Minutes
January 11, 2006

Location: Bridgewater Public Library
Attendees: Kent Kreutler, Warren Turner, Gill Solomon, Jim Revil, Patricia Lee, Elizabeth Mazzone, Carole Smudin and Jim Howell

Old Business: Planning for canoe put ins along the Town River. Priorities are at Scotland Street Bridge in W Bridgewater which is dependent on the State repairs to that bridge and the potential site in Bridgewater on the Town River north of the Roche Bros. Plaza.

New Business: Patricia Lee and Elizabeth Mazzone were at the meeting to present the plans for the Bridgewaters Rotary Club to help with creating canoe put in sites on the river. They have applied for a grant for $3,000 which is to be matched by a similar amount from local fund raising.

The result of the grant application should be known within 6 months. Tonight's discussion centered on the following points:

  1. Jim Revil will try to get in contact with the owner of the property along the Town river near the classic Beech Tree north of the Roche Bros. Plaza.
  2. Warren Turner and Elizabeth Mazzone will try to arrange for borrowing small floating ducks which can be used for a fund raiser this spring-summer as follows; a sale of ducks in a floating lottery to be floated down the river with a prize of significance to the winners.

The next TRSC meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 8, 2006 @ 6:30 P.M. at the Bridgewater Public Library to further solidify the fundrasing duckathon.
